okay! this is the post on my driving test ON 13 NOVEMBER 2007, as u can see from my 2nd last post i was a nervous wreck on the test day and before the test.

called amy in the morning to ask her something about vertical parking. she was really nice to answer my question though i suspect she didnt really understand what i was asking. and the night before i called my darling brother who was in the midst of studying exams at NTU and spoke to him about 10min (he was trying to calm me down!!) about parking, driving and my miscellaneous questions. ((i think if there was the book on THE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO DRIVING i would have read it!)

received flurry of smses and calls in the morning from people wishing me luck. THANKYOU EVERYONE! so touched. but haha i know i told a lot of people la. but err. thankyou anyway.
oh my aunty called me and asked me to go see doctor. im like errrr... HUH??
then she said: aiyo, 'gugu' (dad's sister) ate "zhen ding yao, which is like tranquilizers or sth i think. then she managed to pass her 2nd driving test! cos she didnt shake and was calm and very good!
viv: huh? but im not shaking what. my heart is just thumping
aunt: u sure u dont need???
viv: err.. yah...

started preparing to leave the house and i was thinking whether to wear my cute red shirt or cute white shirt with whales. decided to wear the white one. cos red's kind of too flashy. and wore my shorts cos that's my usual driving attire! (not because adeline asked me to wear short skirt) .

i reached BBDC like 30min earlier just in case( dunno just in case what but aiya in case anything crops up!) haha. i passed my i/c, PDL, booking slip to the counter person then sat on the chair reading their AUTOCAR guide,.. like cramming for test. and the night before i was reading it like a textbook and gosh! i found out there was some stuff i never did for vertical parking blindspot! trying to desperately practise the skill.. (and shh. erm. i always forget which is accelerator and which is brake so i was trying to practise on my footwork too)

my warm up ( which is when the bbdc instructor lets u go for a random test route, usually route 2 and test all the circuit stuff before the actual test) was scheduled at 220pm. however, by 230pm my name wasnt called yet, cos they practise this system of rostering the cars, e.g. when the test car for some person comes back then u can go for your test. i was super nervous, went to the counter to ask the person. she asked me, whats ur car no.? im like huh? i dunno leh. er..
thankfully she was really nice she helped me check the paper and said the car isnt back yet.

so i waited, i jumped up and walked super fast when it was my turn. the warm up instructor was really nice, we went thru all the circuit stuff and everything went fine in the circuit. even e vertical parking which gave me trouble was alright. he even said "if i'm the tester im very happy with ur circuit" whew. my confidence grew. and then when we went out on the road, there were like no cars! gosh. easy for lane change which is my weakest link. but he commented that my lane change was a bit abrupt, which i totally agreed with. but he was nice he really made my day by telling me "at ur standard, you can drive ur father's car at night!" wah i was super happy.
then we drove back to the test center and he told me all the best, rmb the lane change and
guess perhaps all warm up instructors are like that, must build confidence in the testees, cos confidence is winning half of the battle!

so we went back and i sat outside the room waiting for the tests. quite nervous. realised some of the testees were uncles like 50+, likely maybe they got too many demerit points. then theres this young girl also. the funny thing is shes private candidate then her instructor was telling her.
"bu yao luan luan zou le hor, okay. ji de yao la handbrake hor!"
translates to " stay here and wait for the tester and remember to pull the handbrake!"
hahahahaha. anyway. so the time came after a lot of waiting and we went into the room to ballot for test routes. the first name they picked was (can't rmb but sth very funny happened)
tester i/c: tan AH GAO!
everyone looks around.
tester i/c: is there a tan ah gao here?
everyone looks around again.
tester i/c: eh...
everyone giggles nervously.
then they realised theres some problem with the I/c and name thing.

then my name got picked. TEST ROUTE 8! gosh! damn i was cursing. test route 8 is the horrible teck whye one which is winding and everything and its baddd. i was like thinking "sure fail this time" then the tester called my name and i went to start driving. it wasnt too bad just that i was hesitating and i think he was a bit pissed and he had a perpetually black face. and gosh.circuit was fine didnt bang into anything, except i accidentally pressed brake when i was going to accelerate too. but wasnt too obvious. then. we went out to the road and i was thinking. AH have to do u-turn! then end up he skipped the u-turn part for me. whee. and we got back fast. but i made silly mistakes like being too hesitant and all. then when we got back to the centre he got off the vehicle like super fast! i had to run after him.

earlier on, dad reminded me perpetually to tell a sob story to the tester saying i had to earn my own money to pay for driving, how badly i need a license etc. THEN! i really wanted to say. cos i was damn scared i'll fail cos of the silly mistakes i made along the way. but he walked too fast! but anyway we got into the room. i was on the verge of tears and he was summing up my demerit points.
then he said: *stern face still. 14 points. you pass, go down for the briefing.
viv: i was like. omg u mean i PASSED?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! :) *STARTS CRYING

then i ran out of the room and whipped out my phone and started calling about 20 people and sending smses to another 20 people. gosh gosh gosh.

first one called was mum.
viv: in the midst of crying.*sob. sob i PASSED!
mum: huh? what u say? u pass or fail?
viv: i passed!
mum: OH! GOOD!
viv: okokay i call other people!!!

then followed by bro, getty, dad.
then attempted to call twins. (they didnt pick up!)

but des called me back while i was in the midst of another call.
viv: des i passed
des: okokay. *bored voice
viv: eh WHY U NOT EXCITED ONE! I TOLD U I PASS LEH!!
des: OHhhhhhhh!HH!HHH YOU PASSED??? AHHHH!!!! I KNOW U'LL PASS!!!!! DAWN! SHE PASSSED!!!! *excitedly with screaming!
(apparently she says she thought initially i said i'll call u back later. cos i was like thinking des would confirm have a damn big reaction and scream or something!)

THEN followed by smses and everything. and watching some video about how-drunk-driving-can-be-dangerous. and i applied for my license! was smart and first to run to queue for license with a nice photo READY! in my wallet.

went back to school for gem2901(was dreading going home to do marketing and not so much in a total celebratory mood to celebrate with parents cos i see them all the time!) and was smiling like a chesire cat all the way. haolianed to rugger about my passing the test at gem and showing him the paper!

then received zhimin's sms cos he was having some ocs thing busy before that so i couldnt call him on e spot. really very happy about his sms. especially the part where he said "happy for you, you don't need to worry about going driving lessons anymore"

Though he's wrong about the worrying part, cos the worry starts from real driving which u actually have to rmb routes and there's no one to jam brake, give directions, but i was touched by how he rmbed when i always fretted about going driving, getting scolded by instructors and was quite demoralized at sometimes. nice of him to rmb what i said and complained to him.

went home after gem with a smile, went to sleep with a smile and woke up with a smile and did marketing assignment with a smile.

just feel im the luckiest girl in the world :)) yay. will practise driving out of the carpark first and so i can drive my bestie around when shes back! and my darling friends.
and im beginning to think if 13 is my lucky number cos i checked my private diary and realised i took basic theory on 13 MARCH 2007!

PS: my mistakes were SHARP TURN, INSUFFICIENT ACCELERATION. (dad laughed like mad on the insufficient acceleration part!!)
