just came back from a wedding dinner at Meritus Mandarin haven't been to weddings for a long long time. Used to go to plenty when i was younger though. i loved going to weddings seeing if the bride was pretty/not. until when i was older weddings became much of a bore (especially if we had to sit at a table with strangers & small talk) & since they always started late (:S cos usually the next day we would have school) so it was an interesting experience for me today since i havent been to any for about 3-4 years since most of my cousins of marriageable age were already married. for this particular wedding, The groom's dad is my dad's friend & in actual fact i have never seen the groom/ bride before in my whole life the reason why i'm saying this is because i can't believe when i stepped into the ballroom i felt emotional already (when i didnt know the couple) cos they were having some slideshow thingie of the couple's wedding photos though its the usual cliche ones (nothing very special) but i felt teary (but didnt tear, cos mum & dad would have thought im mad or something) was thinking why. it's prolly because i was thinking marriage is like this huge commitment thingie, its really not easy to find your soulmate in the sea of people & to decide that he/she is the one to live with forever. i wonder if i'll ever find mine. it's like i've been hearing about failed relationships, broken marriages, third parties that it kind of scares me. is it still possible to believe in a once-in a lifetime marriage? this particular wedding had their solemnisation on stage with the Justice of Peace (??) solemnising the marriage it was a simple ceremony, but nonetheless interesting to see how it actually goes. when you actually say the words "I do" you really have to love someone really not to be taken lightly. then there was this short video about the growing up thing like how they met etc etc... it was cute looking at the photos it.... (to be continued) [OMG JUST SAW A LIZARD helpppppp SHIT. BRO IS NOT AT HOME, DAD IS ASLEEP lizard crawled onto my papers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH NOOOOO DECIDED TO MOVE into my bro's room cos no one can hear me scream too] back to the story (tries to stay calm) from the photos & I deciphered they were dating for like 10 years or so already. (viv: OH NO, im already 20. 30 IS LIKE SO OLD!....) ok but whatever this is Gen Y liao. bahhh yah. just some random thoughts. & photos oh, & for the 9th course we actually had chicken rice. then later i remembered Mandarin Hotel is Famous for its chicken rice. was initially quite excited cos the presentation was interesting but sad to say its only barely edible. I would only give it a 3/10. mum drove home instead of dad who had too much to drink & we had a small, cute little family squabble. ended happy. :)) love my family. PS: results were released today. disappointment & surprises but well. i tried my best. TRY HARDER NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & LIFE GOES ON! thank you candy, getty, mummy & daddy for the words of encouragement & comfort (Maybe Barnus, but i cant rmb what u said to me too. hahahah :D) |
